Relasing the Psalmists in our Local Churches

It is time to release the psalmists in our local churches. Within every congregation are people gifted in lyrics, melody, arrangements, production, and a deep knowledge of Scripture and theology. These are gifts God has placed in the body, and it’s time to set them free to write for their own church community.

Our congregations sing many beautiful songs written by believers around the world for their churches and for the wider Church… and that is a gift. But Scripture also calls us to “sing a new song to the Lord.” God has uniquely placed voices, stories, and expressions of worship within each local body.

When we create from within our own communities, we give language to what God is doing among us and invite our church to sing back to Him from the place He has planted us!

In a workshop setting, I gently guide your worship team or congregation through some key foundations of writing for the local church, why it’s needed, why it matters, and how to steward the gift of songwriting well. Many churches already have people with creative and theological gifts, and these workshops help create space for those gifts to grow and be used.

Together, we explore different ways of approaching songwriting so that a variety of voices and strengths in the body can participate. The goal is to equip your church for ongoing creativity and inspiration long after the workshop ends. These gatherings are fun, creative, and deeply encouraging spaces where new songs are born… songs that reflect the life of your church and invite your congregation to worship with fresh language and renewed joy.

Why have a Workshop?

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!

Psalm 96:1

Psalm 149:1

“Hallelujah! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the faithful.”
